Nominee’s bio: https://www.linkedin.com/in/alfonso-carrillo-aspiazu-9a91a92/

How long have been working in the CORD community?

My active work in the CORD Community started before the Cardina Release of ONOS, sometime around early 2015; at such time CORD was one of several use cases and at Telefónica we were toying with the idea of combining SDN and cloud to better utilize our CO's real estate.

What contributions have you made in the past to the CORD community?

Besides participating actively in ONOS and later in CORD, we have contributed code to VOLTHA in the form of adapters for Celestica's Ruby GPON OLT.

What are you actively working on in CORD?

Rigth now we have a commercial pilot running in Telefónica de Espña that shortly will be expanded not only for residential Customers, but for enterprise Customers as well. In this new phase of the OnLIfe Networks Project will be adding revenues generating Use Cases that take advantage of CORD's Edge Computing capabilites for Telefónica's own and Third Party services.

We are working on integrting the mobile access netowrk in the same implementation we have done for our Passive Optic Network, to leverage the infrstructure and learnings we have collected in the PON CORD implementation.

Why do you feel you would be a good candidate for this position?

I'm able to bring our commercial pilot deployment experience to the Community, sharing the learnings and looking for feedback from other members in how to enhance the solution.

Are there any changes you would like to bring to the community if elected into this position?

There are a couple of themes we will like to bring forward, that need more attention from the Community:

  • Revenue generating use cases

  • Edge computing with heterogeneous infrstructure
